Submissions are open to any undergraduate student, including but not solely limited to undergraduate students at Stetson University—but due to the rolling nature of submissions and the annual publication date, your piece may be officially published in Standpoint after you graduate with your undergraduate degree.
Allowed file types: Please submit written pieces as .doc or .docx files. Submit photography and visual art as a .png file.
Submissions citing other works MUST use a standardized citation style such as MLA, APA, Chicago, APSA, or AMA. The citation style used must be indicated in your submission and correctly used throughout, and you must also include your Works Cited/References/Bibliography in your submission.
For the ease of our editorial staff and accessibility of readership, we prefer the primary language of any submitted piece to be English—but this does not mean we exclusively select works in “Standardized American English.” Colloquial/Regional Englishes, multilingual pieces, and analysis of work in other languages are all permitted for submission.
Submissions CANNOT be previously published in another traditional format (e.g. Literary magazine, newspaper, feature magazine, etc.). Pieces posted on social media/uploaded to Youtube not also published in a traditional format may be submitted.
If your piece includes identifying information or the likeness of an individual on campus, ensure that it is not graphic and that you have obtained the individual’s consent before submitting.
If your piece includes research done with human subjects, please also submit your IRB approval in the designated submission box.
Written pieces should be a minimum of 1,000 words and a maximum of 6,000 words.
While AI may be used in the development of a piece, you MUST disclose the SPECIFIC use of AI in your work (yes, even in the brainstorming/surveying/outlining process) when you submit your piece. We will not consider fully AI generated submissions.
